March 2005 - Kalmetiya Fisheries Cooperative, Hambantota District.
At a GOAL funded repair yard fishermen rebuild a traditional Sri Lanka canoe, an oru, by using a fibreglass mould. GOAL is providing materials and paying for the labour to repair and replace canoes and boats throughout the three districts they work in. Taking an holistic approach to the regeneration issue GOAL is also distributing nets to the cooperative and funding the repair of engines.
