GOAL began operations in Sri Lanka with an emergency response in key sectors such as Water and Sanitation, Non-Food Relief items and Shelter and quickly deployed into three main areas of operation – Matara, Hambantota and Ampara.

Rapid field assessments were undertaken and within one week operations had fully commenced. Initially work was concentrated on rubble removal and body retrieval in all areas; this work has long been completed, and GOAL has entered the rehabilitation phase.

Temporary shelters have been built for the homeless, a schools rehabilitation programme started and many other projects are completed or
at an advanced stage of development.
GOAL has it's headquarters in Dublin, Ireland - www.goal.ie
