Pádraig Grant's WEXFORD - Book 1 - Special Gatefold Edition

€30.00

Number One in the Wexford Series by Pádraig Grant (photographs 1981–1990)

Over 100 photographs from Pádraig Grant’s archives, made between 1981 and 1990. The first of four retrospective books on Wexford, each covering a decade from 1980 onward.

Includes well-known images such as the Wexford quayside series "The Woodenworks" and quiet snow scenes of the sleeping town. Behind-the-scenes shots from Billy Roche’s The Boker Poker Club at Wexford Arts Centre; Pierce Turner mid-leap at a Christmas gig in the old Shambles Bar; and many previously unpublished street portraits of local characters and traders — cobbler Pascal Murphy at work, actor Dave Morris on High Street, Aidan Hore outside his small goods shop in Selskar, and the legendary Nolan’s Cafe on Allen and Main.

These pictures matter not only as records of events but because they capture the spirit of the town and its people during a time of change. Wexford is Pádraig’s main subject; the streets are his canvas, and his photographs show a lasting affection for his home. The images keep the past alive in the present.
